Linkedin is the largest business network in the world and you should at the very least create yourself a profile on the Linkedin website. You can then add your two penneth to the various discussions that go on in the different groups. Join our Business in Berkshire group and comment on someone else's discussion and add your own. more | 21/12/09 When you first start networking it can be terribly intimidating as everyone is chatting away and you feel like a duck out of water, desperate to run home back to the safety of your nest. Don’t, say hello to the guys and gals who appear to be the centres of attention. They will be more than happy to chat for a few minutes and find out about you. If they are out networking regularly they are far more likely to recommend you on when someone else says “I do X but could do with a hand with Y”. more | 19/12/09 Jon suggests in this clip that you should create yourself a single page website at the very least, even if you use a free tool like Google sites. Some people recommend, usually web companies, that you need to have a super wiz bang website that will cost you £2k or more ... you don’t need that if you are starting out but you do need to have a least a single page website which says who you are and what you do. more | 17/12/09 Check out local networking groups and find one or two that work for you...
