Don’t put it off, get on with it... |

Deal with things in the now, don’t put off till tomorrow or they’ll never happen.
Recently I was asked “What are the biggest business mistakes that people make?” And on reflection it comes down to be indecisiveness. It wastes time and costs your business money. If you spend too much time considering things then they will never get done. We all make mistakes and tend to learn from our own experiences. Others will tell us don’t do that, do this because when I did it ... we’ll hear but probably make the same mistake ourselves and only through our own pain learn what works and doesn’t work for us and our business. By making decision quickly you can move on, make some mistakes but also make some great decisions and it means you are flowing and not stagnating through procrastination. When this comes to adding content to a blog or mini blog like Business in Berkshire, so many people have said to me, “I hear you Jon, I’ll add some new content next week, promise.” As I remind, some may say nag, them into understanding content is king. Most of the delay is down to writing a few sentences and then reflecting on them, is it spelt right? does it read well? is it what I’m trying to say??? All these questions and more go through the head of the writer who probably got a grade C in English and so has chosen to avoid the written word, where ever possible, ever since. The reality is that not that many people are going to read the full article, most will stop after the first few lines, so don’t worry so much ... get the stories or mini blog out. Through the process of writing more articles you’ll get better, so don’t worry about being perfect today ... grow through experience. The more pages you have out on the web the more chance you have of people seeing that you exist as they randomly search the web and click on a couple of links on page one. If your content isn’t there you can’t have the conversation ... so get it written and published ... most people will enjoy the fact that you are human and misspell the odd word ... others will really enjoy pointing it out to you your misakes ... but guess what, you are then in conversation. I sometimes spell things incorrectly on porpoise so folk can let me know ! Don’t put it off, get on with it... |
