#SMiB10 Social Media in Business 2010

Today we’ll be enjoying the Social Media in Business conference at PayPal’s UK offices in Richmond.

Social Media in Business SMiB10

A bunch of speakers
presenting their experience to 100+ business men and women, all with a keen interest in the social media space.

It will be very interesting to see where the speakers take us ...

A quick assessment of the #SMiB10 noise and we can see around 30 tweets, including half a dozen re-tweets by 23 different people, 3 of whom are easily identifiable as presenters. So let’s say 15 attendees or 15% of the audience for tomorrow event are tweeting ... just spotted a few oiks who were abbreviating to #smib ... come on chaps, how can you max a mission if you’re slightly off message?

When I took a look at how many had registered on LinkedIn yesterday, there were 12, 2 of whom are tweeting today. Putting LinkedIn on a 12% footing ... or same as Twitter ...

I was talking to a pal yesterday about LinkedIn and Twitter ... he thinks LinkedIn is redundant, heading for a vacuum ... and just loves Twitter and it’s conversational nature.

Personally I’m still behind on Twitter and see LinkedIn as a place to connect with those who need what we can do ... so possibly the inverse ... this made for a jolly good discussion.

I think next week I’ll have a Twitter day for BinB and see if I can’t create a flow of conversation with an appropriate #tag and see if we can’t land a few new members.

Let's see what the SMiB10 panel of experts have to say about the toolkits that are available today and use some of that learning moving forward ... bring it on ...

For our part in this social media / online marketing world, we have a very solid website in www.businessinberkshire.co.uk that had 4,000,000 page views last year, mostly through people finding us via the search engines.

With my Social Media Directors partner, Mark White, we are running a LinkedIn training workshop which can be found here www.howtouselinkedin.co.uk

This is the PR machine for our full day courses and bespoke solutions, see www.socialmediadirectors.co.uk for more information.

Thank you for listening.
