Social media optimisation may well be about less is more...
The latest social media buzz is around Twitter with all the celebrities, or those who want to be the most popular person on the planet, chasing to have the most followers listening to their tweets! This is completely understandable from a celebrity view point... more people interested in you means more producers searching you out to star in their programmes to generate more viewers, attracting more advertisers and therefore enhancing the value of the show to any TV company. But celebrity is not what we are all necessarily looking for. We may produce gold bullion so we don’t want lots of people to know where we are... just the select few specialists who need to know. If you are a bee keeper then you want to talk to other bee keepers, especially at the moment when they are wondering where all the bees have gone. Why hives are dying off? Is it the herbicides being used by farmers to maximise crops or are there other more natural reason for it. (P.S I’m no bee expert, I’m just aware there is a problem.) So from a social networking point of view there may be half a dozen existing online communities on which you should be active, some more active than others...
