Ultimately sales lead generation is what all this online activity is about for all businesses.
Watch the video Celebrities generally will not have some community serving reason for promoting themselves online, they are looking for the dollar... the more times they are mentioned, the more they are worth... simple as. Yesterday I read a Tweet by Dave Clark of NRG Networks which took us over to a story on his blog about how one of the members was making 10x their investment in the network from the referrals they were getting over the longer term. Totally makes sense and I congratulate that member on making the most of his or her offline networking. They obviously have something that everyone wants. For many businesses the chances of generating those levels of business from a small group and their connections would be very difficult. Most of us do something that not everyone wants or understands, so the opportunity for referral is reduced. One reality is that most people who search for a solution today use the Internet in the shape of Google... it may be Twitter in the future but today it is very definitely Google. When people want something they are going to search a key phrase that relates to the item and then click on 1, 2 or possibly 3 links to see what is on offer... if they don’t find what they are looking for then they will refine the search, probably not go to page 2. Thus you need to be front and centre when someone is searching... that’s part of what we can do for you. Quantify it in numbers. One of my clients in the Health and Safety space had a lead come in January from the website that turned into £60,000 worth of business. The cost of this lead was less than £200... that’s like 150x !!!! And that’s not the only significant lead he has had this year... I make that 15x Dave... you??
