The new world order of social networking requires us to engage on different platforms to gain exposure with the maximum number of people to encourage one or two to connect with us. It has been my experience of trying to encourage people for the last 5 years to add content, content, content, that most struggle with the actual writing of the content, never mind the requirement to post on different online media platforms in different ways! Today, Friday 4th September 2009, I am going to run an exercise in online marketing management. We are going to publish as many stories as we can, realistically, of reasonable quality to the Jon Davey website between 9:30am and 12:30pm. Eleven post have been planned. I will write 150 words for each, add links, produce a video and then distribute to the following forum: • The first post will be to Utterli as this allows us to record the video and then display it will the full story and links on their website. We can then take a widget and load it on our site which displays are latest video down the left of every page of all the websites and pages that carry our current Jon Davey BLG Template... and that amounts to thousands of pages. Which in turn ensures that 95% of our 500,000 pages views per month will have the option to click on the video... and you never know who is watching... it could be our lucky day. http://www.utterli.com/jondavey • The written content will then be added to our jondavey.co.uk website and pushed out to our Business News page. A page regularly visited by Google and within minutes the story will appear on Google News, in their alerts programme and be distributed around the globe to 20,000,000 potential readers. Check out http://www.google.com/alerts • We’ll then Ping out to Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin a short 140 character message which will then lead people back to the jondavey.co.uk web page that carries the content as we want that to be the main focus. People can then travel via the links to examples or our work, more information on online marketing, watch videos, fill in our form or call us direct... or wander off, never to be seen or heard of again! http://twitter.com/jondavey • On Linkedin we will also add a news story with a link to the story to our BinB Group. Linkedin is an ever popular world... will 30,000,000 or more people registered, 252 are part of the BinB group. These guys we can liaise with locally and create more of a rapport and therefore, if all goes to plan, generate more business from. We do work with international clients as well but local is best I’m sure you’ll agree. http://www.linkedin.com/groups We will then create a single email template carrying all the stories and despatch to our Business Alert database and Jon Davey contacts... ensure no duplication, that would be irritating!! So to the story list we’ll despatch. The real world has much more interest in celebrity than business but we offer online marketing services mainly to businesses, we are happy to work with celebs if they value our service but many will expect us to pay them to be in their presence... can’t afford that at the moment chaps, still got a mortgage!! So by mixing our content between business and celebrity we can max the readership over the next 3 hours and see what happens... none of these stories have been pre written and it is likely that we will only get half way as it does take 30 mins or so to work each piece of online marketing magic! 1.
