Testimonial for Jon Davey, his BLG microsites and how my website has delivered tangible results!
I first met Jon early in 2009 and through chatting about our respective businesses, discovered about the way he uses IT to promote people and businesses. He demonstrated how his Micro Sites worked, which seemed very simple and well designed. He also explained how he could get me and my services progressed up the Google ladder. As an artist and cartoonist, the many IT solutions that are apparently available, and ‘guarantee’ to get you business is at times overwhelming. My working life started in Graphic Design and broadened into illustration, cartooning and painting – never letting go of any of these learned skills, as this gives me the chance to accept virtually anything that is asked of me! Therefore, my first impression of Jon’s Micro Site layout design, appealed to me. The marriage between images and cleverly written words suit my style – it’s about keeping it simple. Through Jon’s guidance I was able to write brief case studies that covered a broad spectrum of work, and these were ably supported by my images. I was delighted at the efficiency and speed that this happened. In no time at all, I had a wealth of business information available, and biographical information, that as an artist, people want to know. I’ve had my own website for almost 3 years and have entries in about 4 other ‘artist’ and local business websites, but have found the response very disappointing. However, within the month of my Micro Site being online, I got my first job and have regularly received job enquiries and requests since. Needless to say, that the site has proved its worth. I get a real kick at seeing my words and images quickly appear on the site – ready for all to see. The flexibility of updating case studies in invaluable – and a MUST. It enables me to keep the site fresh looking and promotes current successes, so attracting a broader client base. It adds extra value. The biggest kick so far is getting work from London based companies who found me on Google! On testing this, I typed in freelance cartoonist and to my wonderment, found myself at the top of the second page of 22,500 results. Now that really is a RESULT !
